劇情簡介
戰鬥中負傷而下身癱瘓的前海軍戰士傑克•薩利（薩姆•沃辛頓 Sam Worthington 飾）決定替死去的同胞哥哥來到潘多拉星操縱格蕾絲博士（西格妮•韋弗 Sigourney Weaver 飾）用人類基因與當地納美部族基因結合創造出的 “阿凡達” 混血生物。傑克的目的是打入納美部落，外交說服他們自願離開世代居住的家園，從而SecFor公司可砍伐殆盡該地區的原始森林，開採地下昂貴的“不可得”礦。在探索潘多拉星的過程中，傑克遇到了納美部落的公主娜蒂瑞（佐伊•索爾達娜 Zoe Saldana 飾），向她學習了納美人的生存技能與對待自然的態度。與此同時，SecFor公司的經理和軍方代表上校邁爾斯（史蒂芬•朗 Stephen Lang 飾）逐漸喪失耐心，決定訴諸武力驅趕納美人……

關於《阿凡達》你應該知道的11件事
1 在製作初期，扮演傑克·薩利的人選曾經考慮過馬特·達蒙和傑克·吉倫哈爾，但詹姆斯·卡梅隆最終決定用一名不是太出名的演員，選擇了還是新人的薩姆·沃辛頓。
2 雖然在影片裏面根本沒有說明過故事發生的年份是哪一年，但根據主角傑克·薩利所錄製的視頻日誌裏，左下角的時間所顯示，故事發生於2154年的5月-8月。
3 根據《紐約時代》的消息，影片成本、宣傳等各方面花費了超過5億美元，其中福克斯的投資為3億美元，派拉蒙等其他投資商的投資成本為2億美元。這使得《阿凡達》成為電影史上投資最高的作品。
4 《阿凡達》在籌備期間的片名為《880計畫》“Project 880”，最後確定的片名為《阿凡達》（Avatar），片名源自印度佛教用語，意指靈魂被轉移至新的軀體裏面。
5 在英國，為了防止《阿凡達》在上映之前洩密，電影膠片的運送途中被分為兩個部分，代號是“Redbird”。1-5卷先運到英國，等1-5卷膠片到了英國之後，才開始運送剩下的6-10卷。
6 納威人的語言比較靠近澳大利亞口音，所以來自澳大利亞的薩姆·沃辛頓能夠更容易的學會這門沒啥人用的原創語言。
7 在北美，《阿凡達》用了32天票房就達到5億美元，打破了《黑暗騎士》45天的記錄。而詹姆斯·卡梅隆上一部故事片《泰坦尼克號》用了98天才達到5億美元。

9 納威人的身體主色調是藍色，這是因為一個傳說的印度宗教裏，神的顏色都是以藍色為主（如濕婆，羅摩，克裏希那等），而且還有另一個原因，就是詹姆斯·卡梅隆本人很喜歡藍色。
10 本片裏格雷斯·奧古斯丁博士的角色設定，其實是參考了朱迪·福斯特在銀幕內外的形象。有意思的是詹姆斯·卡梅隆在寫劇本的時候並沒有考慮過讓朱迪·福斯特來演這個角色。
